Hi, Everyone! It’s release week for my friend and critique partner Amber Belldene’s Blood Reunited, the third book in her Blood Vine paranormal romance series. Here are my thoughts on this last installment in her series. Plus, Amber is on tour this month to celebrate. Details below. 🙂
Tight, high-stakes plot, sizzling romance, tear-inducing drama, intense action, characters you’ll love to love and others you’ll love to hate…Blood Reunited has all that and more.
The third book in Amber Belldene’s Blood Vine Series, Blood Reunited centers around two of my favorite characters, vampire-human Bel and his ancient vampire love, Uta. Proud and stubborn and carrying a ton of baggage from their past, both characters kept me immersed in their will-they-won’t-they struggle. And, of course, their interpersonal conflict is exacerbated by the ongoing conflict for the series: Bel’s father, Andre, and the rest of the vampire cast seek a cure for the wasting disease threatening their race while undergoing the ever-escalating violence from their enemies, the fanatical Hunters.
Speaking of Hunters, brothers Lucas and Ethan are such well-drawn characters you can’t help but love the stuffing out of tenderhearted Lucas while you’ll want to drop a megaton of C4 on Ethan, the not-quite-sane leader of the Hunters. No spoilers here, but suffice it to say, Ethan performs some cringe-worthy antics on the page which had me saying, “He’s not going to do that… No, really? Oh wow, he just did that…” In other words, evil Ethan is a definite page-turner. Lucas, on the other hand, is so endearing I wanted to scoop up the big teddy bear and hug the stuffing out of him. And p.s. Lucas and Pedro’s love story also continues in this last book, adding an intense and compelling layer of drama to an already riveting plot.
Blood Reunited is a must-read for series fans and newcomers alike. For those new to this compelling series, here’s the recommended reading order:
1) Blood Vine
2) Blood Entangled
3) Blood Reunited
She flipped the arm separating their seats up and laced her hands into his hair, pulling his ear to her mouth. Her deft, slender tongue traced a wet line around the shell before she nibbled on the lobe with blunt teeth. Tingles crawled from his scalp down his shoulders and arms, and he pulled her onto his lap.
She whispered. “I have done many things in my life. But I am not yet a member of this club for people who have had sex on airplanes.”
She was already fumbling between them for his belt, her tongue pressed between her lips in determination.
He pressed his forehead into hers and chuckled. “Yes.”
He ached to be with her again like this, but he wouldn’t make the same mistake as last time. This would change nothing.
Brooding vampire halfling and biologist Bel Maras is determined to create a cure for the wasting disease that plagues his vampire family. His work becomes essential as the Hunters intensify their global and bloody campaign. When Bel’s cure fails, only his ancient and estranged godmother Uta Ilirije can help. But seeing the ice-cold Uta reveals something shocking–she is his bonded mate.
She may be a dangerous warrior, but Uta feels her failures acutely. She has been unable to protect her kind from Hunters, and vampires are dying out. Worse, she tied Bel to her long ago in an accident of blood, then abandoned him for his own good–a choice he has never forgiven. Many days, she is convinced Bel and the vampires would be better off if she just walked into the sun.
Biology has fated them to be mates. Now these old enemies must overcome their past to save the vampires and come to peace with the bond they never chose.

Hello, Dear Readers! Please welcome my special guest, author Babette James. Take it away, Babette… 🙂
Summertime Dream: The First Meet
by Babette James
I’m delighted to visit here today and share a quick peek at my heroine and hero meeting for the first time in my new contemporary romance from The Wild Rose Press, Summertime Dream, the second novel in my River series.
An unexpected inheritance brings business consultant Christopher Gordon from Los Angeles to quaint Falk’s Bend. He’s carved a week from his demanding schedule to list his great-grandparents’ house for sale and explore his roots. However, disturbing family secrets and the sweet temptation of writer Margie Olsson derail his plans, challenging him to seize the elusive dream missing from his hectic life— love.
A recent brush with death shook Margie’s life, but not her dreams and she’s ready to move forward. Only, standing up to her loving, over-protective family isn’t easy. Helping Christopher explore the derelict mansion and unravel his grandmother’s mysterious past should be a harmless fun taste of independence. But when her experimental summer fling ignites into unexpected love, how can her small town dreams work with his big city life?
I loved writing this story of how Christopher and Margie met and fell headlong into love the summer before Nate and Kay’s story in Clear As Day. I hope you enjoy falling in love along with them!
Babette
Excerpt:
Joe planted his hands on his hips, another lecture looming. “Margie, I know, but—”
She crossed her arms against the chill surge of shame at losing her temper in public and her throat tightened. “No! Enough! You’ve got work to do. I’ll see you after the game.”
Grumbling under his breath, Joe stomped off.
Baxter dropped his bag on the table and stooped to kiss Debi quick and hard. “Hon, I’ll go on help Joe unload. See you at the bleachers.” He winked at Margie and loped after Joe.
Mirth sparkling in her blue eyes, Debi hugged Margie. “Well, well, there’s hope for you after all! I’ve never seen you back Joe down before.”
“He’s just…being Joe. I shouldn’t have snapped at him.” Margie groaned. The giddy spark at having stood up for herself fizzled. Thank goodness, her parents had missed her tantrum. Joe hadn’t been himself since breaking up with Stephanie and jumping down his throat was a dumb way to get his agreement.
“I’ve known you since the first day of kindergarten, and yeah, Joe means well, but let me tell you, that was one long overdue snap. I’m proud of you.”
“I just wish he’d stop hovering.” Margie peeked over her shoulder at the minivan. Baxter had Joe’s softball gear, and Joe hauled out the first large, food-laden hotbox.
“Maybe you ought to think about a place of your own. You need a change.”
“I’ve had enough change over the last year.”
Debi waved her hand in a stop-it motion. “A positive change. And, yes, I know all the reasons why you stay with them. Heck, I’d leave Baxter for your mom’s peach pancakes alone. But it’s something you should consider seriously.”
“I will. Someday.” Even moving out wouldn’t stop their loving, smothering concern.
“Why don’t we skip the game? I’ll crack open the pinot grigio and we can compare brotherly pet peeves.”
Margie laughed. “I think we’ve covered them all over the years. Go on. Catch up with Baxter. Let me jot some quick scene notes, then I’ll meet up with you all.” That was a complete fib, but her skin crawled with the need for some space.
Debi accepted her fib with a commiserating hug and headed for the ball field.
Margie escaped for her favorite place in the park, the huge old oak topping the low rise of land between the picnic area and the ball field, with a perfect view of the game and the lazy river. Oh, thank goodness, she had the shady homemade swing to herself. She settled against the swing’s thick rope, kicked off her sandals, and let out a heavy breath. Two sparrows squabbled and chased overhead through the shifting patterns of leafy shadow and sunlight. Drawing her bare feet up onto the heavy board polished smooth by years of bottoms and feet, she fluffed the skirt of her sundress over her knees. Determined to change her fib and mood around, she opened the story on her tablet and set to her note-making, resisting the urge to aimlessly edit.
Wild cheers jolted her attention to the game. Whoa. Seven innings already and tied at nine runs each. She sighed. Her missing the game would just give Joe one more thing to fuss over.
They all meant well, but when would Joe and everyone accept she was perfectly fine, better than ever, actually, and stop trying to keep her packed in cotton balls?
Patience, patience. All you can do is wait.
“Wait for what?” a quiet male voice answered.
Jolted, she sat straight, straddling the board to keep from falling, her heart zipping. She’d spoken out loud?
“Sorry, didn’t mean to startle you.” The man from the gate stood at the edge of the shade. “Just came over to check out this great old oak. I’ll leave you be.”
His soft, low voice, rich and warm as caramel, set every dormant feminine nerve on alert.
But who was he? Between growing up in Falk’s Bend and working at the restaurant, she knew everyone and their kin, or, at least about them. If he was a Mills, he must take after his mother’s family. He had the greenest eyes she’d ever seen set in a craggy, captivating face, and smile crinkles by his eyes and mouth. He was lanky and fit, but not so tall as Joe, and maybe older, late thirties. His sleek brown hair was neatly trimmed, his white polo shirt set off his outdoor tan, and more men should look as good in jeans as he did. Her gaze returned to those remarkable eyes of his, and something hot and bright leapt inside her.
He cleared his throat, as if he’d been waiting for a reply.
Holy moly. Heat flooded her. She’d been staring like an idiot. So that’s what all that being lost in a man’s eyes in romance novels felt like. Holy moly indeed.
Come fall in love at the river:

Hi, everyone! Please enjoy this spotlight on M. Luke McDonell’s debut sci-fi release, The Perfect Specimen.
The Perfect Specimen, by M. Luke McDonell
Release date: December, 2013
Buy Link: Amazon.com
Dr. Derek Singh is a cancer researcher who wins a grant to study on newly-colonized planet Victoria. He hopes that one of Victoria’s millions of venomous insects holds the key to destroying cancerous tumors–and jump-starting his stalled career.
Unfortunately, the traps he sets each night capture nothing but dust, and his competitive colleagues don’t share the venom they’ve collected. The clock is running down on his two-year grant and he’s making no progress.
When his young neighbor–one of the few native-born children–finds out he studies “bugs,” she is eager to bring him all the specimens he needs. Derek worries she’ll be bitten or stung, but soon discovers Mia is in danger from a far larger predator–the corporation that funds him.
This is a prequel to M. Luke’s novel Six, which will be released in 2014.
The next afternoon, the front desk security guard popped onto my screen, his face bemused. “Mia Julian is here to see you.”
Ah, shit. I expected she’d hand over whatever she found when I saw her later on the balcony.
Anton glanced up. “That’s the kid that was here yesterday?”
I was surprised he remembered.
“Yeah. I told her she could collect the traps I set last night,” I lied. I’d have to tell her not to come around during business hours.
I hurried to the lobby. Mia smiled broadly when she saw me. “I got a good one! A big one! You’re really gonna like it!” She held the trap out.
Thoughts of berating her for disturbing me vanished. “Jesus, Mia!” The hissing, snapping creature inside resembled a small lobster more than a scorpion and was like nothing I’d seen on the sample wall or anywhere else. “Where the f…” I stopped myself just in time. “Where did you find that?”
She grinned. “They’re all over the place. They live in between rocks. You can’t catch them with light or smells or those stupid pellets. They only eat…Pallus pilosus.” She spoke the unfamiliar words slowly and carefully.
I gaped. She wasn’t wearing glasses.
“Did I say that wrong? I didn’t know the real name until I saw one on your bug wall yesterday.”
There were over 6000 specimens on that wall. Why had that name stood out and stuck with her? “You said it right.” I took the trap and gazed down at the angry, shiny black arthropod. A thin stream of yellow liquid trickled down from the spot where its back stinger struck the trap wall repeatedly. I was taken aback, not just by this amazing sample, but by Mia’s ability to recognize and name its favorite prey.
She looked at me expectantly. I collected myself.
“Great work Mia, thank you!”
“I need more traps. I could have brought you a whole bunch of bugs, but I didn’t want to put them all together in there.”
“That would have been messy,” I agreed.
“I can help. I want to be your assistant.”
I was about to explain why this was impossible, then reconsidered. She probably knew more about the wildlife in this area than I ever would. Nothing prevented me from hiring more staff except lack of funds and I didn’t think there was anything in the regulations about age as a requirement for employment.
“Let me think about it. I’m not sure it’s allowed, but I’ll check and let you know tonight back at the apartment, okay?”
“Okay!” She tapped the trap and the black tail swung around to strike the thin barrier again. “He hates the light. Bye Derek!”
She ran out the door, the gravity no burden at all to her young bones.

Hi Everyone!
Today, I’m delighted to welcome Champagne Book Group author Eliot Baker to my blog. His debut novel, The Last Ancient recently released in Champagne’s sci-fi/fantasy line, BURST Books.
Hi Eliot! Tell us a little bit about yourself. Something not in your bio, perhaps?
Hi Celia, thanks so much for having me here! In addition to the stuff on my bio, a big influence on my life has been the extent to which I’ve travelled and lived in different parts of the U.S. and Europe. I’ve been living in Finland for over three years now, which puts me at that bizarre point where I feel like a stranger in both countries, but pleasantly so. When I come home and walk through an American parking lot and into a supermarket, I say to myself with a bad pan-Euro accent, “Eevreetheeng ees so BEEG in Ameerika!” But living in different places, with radically different value systems, forces you to expand your perspective. It’s good for the soul.
How long have you been writing? What genres do you write?
I started writing around the time I started reading, largely because I looked up to my mother so much. She (Sharon Baker) was a published sci-fi novelist. Wanting to make my own way, I avoided writing sci-fi/fantasy in the early going. That’s completely changed. Urban fantasy is my main thing. I love creating a realistic setting, in which real characters are struggling with real problems, and then add to their burden a mythological creature or occult danger or an extra sense. In addition to urban fantasy, genres of ongoing projects include: YA mystery/horror, New Adult Lab Lit (yes, that actually is a genre, I’m told); a Middle Grade fantasy, one zombie horror/comedy thing, and historical thriller.
What made you choose the genres in which you write?
Two things: life experience and entertainment taste. I write about young people in a science lab because it’s something I’ve done and found fascinating. I write about a conspiracy of demons trying to overthrow a Seattle high school because I enjoy reading and watching such things. And I write about a journalist on Nantucket battling an occult conspiracy because it unites my life experience with my interest in the fantastic. Also, I have to admit, my fantasy stories usually contain something deeply personal to me that I mask with symbolism and convey with allegory. That’s the core elegance of sci-fi/fantasy, for me. You can express complex and frighteningly personal ideas subtly, with a compelling, fun story.
You used to be a journalist. Does that influence your fiction writing?
Oh, absolutely. Journalism was the best thing that could have happened to me as fiction writer, starting with the scope of knowledge you attain and the people you meet. Those alone can yield tons of story and character ideas. As for the writing itself, I learned the joys and rewards of researching and outlining a story. I have a pretty wild imagination and journalism gave me the discipline to focus it. But at a skills level, the tools I learned as a journalist have been vital: everything from story arc and structure, to situation-appropriate style, to scene setting, brevity, and accuracy—there’s just so much you learn when you’re forced to write 10,000 words a week of clean copy on a multitude of topics that thousands will read and hold you accountable for. Also, this is really important: the core principle of journalism is your lead, your first sentence, your thesis statement. Being able to capture the entire mood and scope of a story with a lead is so hard, and so critical, to a good story. If you can’t do that, you probably don’t have a strong grasp of your story, and then you have to really examine your story’s symmetry. This holds for genre fiction as well, although there’s a little more leeway.
What’s on your bookshelf and/or in your To Be Read pile?
You mean besides Celia Breslin’s urban fantasy Bloodline series? I was just at a bookstore in Helsinki and I picked up, Hilary Mantel’s “Wolf Hall,” fell in love with the first chapter, and bought “Bring up the Bodies,” too. Also picked up Kevin Powers’ Iraq war novel, “The Yellow Birds.” I have a Finnish sci-fi author’s book beside me as we speak, Hannu Rajaniemi’s The Quantum Thief. On my iPad I have queued up Veronica Roth’s “Divergent,” Peter Brett’s, “The Warded Man,” and Glenn Duncan’s “Tallula Rising,” sequel to “The Last Werewolf.”
Do you have a favorite author?
My reigning favorite author is Cormac McCarthy, going on eight years or so now. Muscular, poetic writing conjuring images and characters that burst from the page and linger long after the last page is turned. But he’s experiencing a pretty big challenge right now from Neil Gaiman, whose “American Gods” is a masterpiece. As a kid, I was inspired to write by Hunter S. Thompson, Mark Twain, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Sounds like a motley trio, but I appreciate good lyrical writing, and you could set all their books to music, the writing just sings. In high school my favorites were easily Stephen King and Anne Rice, read everything they wrote up to 1997 or so, and I still read King every so often. Also really like J.R.R. Tolkein, R.R. Martin, Greg Bear, Mika Walteri, Phillip Pullman, Phillip Roth; and Jared Diamond and John McPhee on the non-fiction side. Went through a big Herman Hess phase in college.
What two authors would you love to chat with over a meal?
Shakespeare–just to see if he actually was human and not a god–and, if I’m eating with him, Hemingway, no doubt. He’d kill the main course and cook it himself. But seriously, as for living authors, I’d love to listen to Stephen King and Cormac McCarthy talk about writing. King’s “On Writing” was deeply inspirational. It helped me sit down and complete my novel. His approach and philosophy of writing is just so… right. And McCarthy has this mystical quality about him that I’d love to tap into, as well as learn from his writing inspiration from his own son. I’m going through something like that myself now my son and daughter (I’ve started a book for her and I promised the little guy he’d get one, too). Once you have kids, they change the way you think about what’s important in a story.
Describe a typical day in the life of Author Eliot Baker.
A typical day starts with the battle of getting my two kids up and into their three layers of Finnish winter clothing for daycare. After that’s all settled, I come home and start my day going over my email and social media while drinking some coffee, and then I open up the word doc of whatever I’m working on. Then I go teach communications at the local university, go lift weights and run at the gym, pick up the kids and either take them to a hobby or I go to mine: I sing in a heavy metal band. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. Haven’t been doing it long, but screaming Metallica and Pantera songs really helps stave of Seasonal Affectivity Disorder in these long, dark winters.
Quick note: my less typical, but ideal, day as an author here in Finland involves going to a family cabin with no indoor plumbing in the middle of nowhere, lighting the sauna fire, roasting myself in an 80 degree Celsius sauna and dipping into a freezing lake, followed by hyper-focused writing for 16 hours a day, three days straight. When my wife and in-laws have the time, they are wonderful about taking the kids and giving me the occasional writing holiday. The results are simply magical. Man, keyboard, and story become one.
Do you listen to music while you write?
Sometimes, when the music is necessary to bring me into the world. For instance, right now I’m writing about teenagers in Seattle, so I listen to both the Seattle grunge of my youth to capture that teenage feeling, and I’m listening to the stuff kids are listening to these days, like Imagine Dragons, to transpose that feeling to today’s world (which is so different from the one I remember graduating from in 1995). But if I’m, let’s say, out at the cabin and it just gets so quiet I start to go loony, I do I put on something without vocals, maybe some Sibellius or Grieg, or something with very subtle vocals, like some soft Indie rock.
Tell us about your new release!
Thank you so much for asking! The Last Ancient is available now on Amazon.com and at burstbooks.ca and should be available everywhere else any day now. It is billed as a historical mystery, but this is very much a tale of supernatural suspense and it’s bursting with romance, from sweet to steamy. I pitched it as urban fantasy, but the historical elements central to the plot’s occult mystery loom large.

“You touched her.”
Jonas’s sword whistled through the air and sliced off the cowering vampire’s hand in one clean blow. It plopped into the mud. The hatchling howled in agony. Clutching his bleeding arm to his chest, he trembled at Jonas’s feet.

‘Tis the season to make yummy desserts!
The Best Ever Holiday Caramel Candy, aka Grandma Eddie’s Caramels
1 can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 cups white sugar
2 cups white Karo Syrup
1 stick of butter (1/4 lb.)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix together the first three ingredients (milk, sugar, syrup) in a large bowl.
Melt the butter in a large heavy kettle, pour in the mixture and bring to a boil.
Stir continuously while mixture boils until it reaches the temperature of 245 degrees Fahrenheit on a candy thermometer (can take up to 25 minutes).
Note: If mixture overcooks, candy gets too hard.
Once the 245 degree temperature is reached, remove kettle from stove.
Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, then pour mixture onto a large buttered cookie sheet or flat pan.
Allow to cool.
When cool, cut candy into squares and wrap in plastic wrap or waxed paper.
(And try not to eat them all before you do! ☺ – Makes a delicious holiday gift).
And lastly, dear readers, I present you with a steamy snippet from my urban fantasy romance, Haven (hot vampire alert!):
Alexander crushed his lips to mine. Need roared through me leaving me breathless with edgy hunger. My hands burrowed into his thick, silky hair, holding his head as if he might try to escape. He growled his approval against my lips, his kiss growing more insistent. His tongue explored my mouth. He tasted metallic, like the blood he’d consumed. Again, I found I liked the taste. My tongue danced with his and delved into his mouth, searching for more penny metal flavor. He groaned and tightened his embrace.

Hello Dear Readers!
I’m delighted to welcome Champagne Book Group author, Hannah Lokos to my blog.
Hi Hannah. Thanks for visiting today! Tell us something about yourself, not in your bio.
I have seven cats, play piano, love cookie dough ice cream, and think that parasailing sounds like fun.
How long have you been writing? What genres do you write?
I have been writing since I was 5 years old. Back then, I couldn’t spell most of the words I used and I mostly wrote short stories and poetry, but as I grew older, I became more interested in novels. My recently released novel, Labyrinth of Lies, is historical fiction, but the novel I’m working on now is what I would describe as a heartwarming psychological thriller.
You’re a pre-med student. When do you find time to write? In other words, describe a day in the life of Hannah Lokos.
Wake up. Coffee. Check emails, work on promotion for my book, and write a couple articles if I have time. More coffee. Go to my organic chemistry class or whatever other morning class I have that day. Grab lunch and more coffee. Study for physics, if I have time, or write papers. Go to the rest of my classes (physics, ecology, labs, etc.). Grab dinner and try to be somewhat social. Go to night class if I have one. Get back to my dorm room around 8 or 9 at night. Make coffee. Do homework until midnight or later, and start writing after that.
What’s on your bookshelf and/or in your To Be Read pile?
I have recently taking to buying antique books. I currently have early additions of books by Louisa May Alcott, Washington Irving, and Sir Walter Scott sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read. I have also been asked to read a couple works written by some friends of mine.
Do you have a favorite author?
When I was thirteen, I read Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. I liked the book, but I loved the author. I learned that he was fifteen years old when he wrote his first novel, and I was thoroughly amazed. I had wanted to be an author since I was five, but I had always thought that it would have to wait till I was grown up. Finding out that he did it as a teenager inspired me to try it too.
Favorite food:
Macaroni and cheese! I know, I know, but do we ever really outgrow it?
Favorite color:
Blue. I think it’s beautiful and calming and deep.
Favorite music and, do you listen to music while you write?
I typically listen to instrumental music while I’m writing, but I also sometimes listen to rap or rock if I’m in the mood for it. I like many styles of music, but I absolutely hate screamo, jazz, and country.
Favorite supernatural creature?
When I was in middle school, I was highly obsessed with dragons. To this day, they still hold a special place in my heart.
Tell us about your new release!
I started writing Labyrinth of Lies when I was 17 years old. I was trying to break into the publishing world, and was having a very hard time of it. I kept hearing “You can’t get published without an agent and you can’t get an agent without being published.” As nonsensical as this sounds, I found it to be frustratingly true. Breaking in was beginning to seem impossible. But then I thought of something: what if I went through the back door? What if I wrote a small book, did all of my own research and representing, and got into a small publishing house? If it worked, I would be published and I would have done it without needing an agent. So I decided to try it.
When I was 18, I submitted my finished novel to about 30 different small publishing houses and was rejected about 30 times. It was a crazy year. It was during my freshman year in college, and I was attempting to balance my studies and my book. Finally, in the spring, right after getting out of a biology lab, I received an email from Champagne Book Group with an offer of publication. My strategy had worked! I was so very excited.
I came up with the idea for Labyrinth of Lies when I was still in high school. I was doing a research project for an art history class when I stumbled across the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. I had heard the myth before but had never really been amazed. It’s pretty simple. Two kings went to war. King Minos of Crete won and forced King Aegeus of Athens to sign an agreement stating that he would send 14 Athenian youths to Crete every year to be fed to the terrible Minotaur, which was locked in a maze. Year after year, this went on until Theseus, son of Aegeus and prince of Athens, decided to stop it by going to Crete himself and killing the Minotaur. And that’s about it. Just your average Greek myth. But then I discovered something.
Some historians believe that Theseus actually lived. Based on historical evidence, it seems that Theseus might actually have lived. Furthermore, his father, King Aegeus, appears to have been real too. As it turns out, the Agean Sea is named after him. Even King Minos really lived. The ruins of his palace at Knossos still stand to this day. You can even see pictures of his throne room on the Internet. This all was most intriguing, but then I learned something else: amidst the ruins at Knossos, there stands a structure that looks like a maze.
This got me thinking. Everything about the myth, it seemed, had basis in the reality, everything except one thing, that is: the Minotaur. Even if everything else about the myth was real, we know that Minotaurs cannot possibly exist. So this merited the question: why would you need a labyrinth to house a monster that did not exist? Why would you annually sacrifice 14 innocent people if there was no beast to devour them?
The answer: you wouldn’t, not unless you were hiding a secret. Yet, what secret could be so terrible that it would demand the shedding of blood? And this is what my book is about. To put it simply, my novel is situated at that unique junction where historical fiction meets Greek mythology meets adventure meets romance meets conspiracy theory. It’s an odd mix, I know, but it actually worked out well.
Something foul is afoot in Ancient Greece. King Minos of Crete annually demands fourteen Athenian youths to be fed to the Cretan Minotaur, which is locked inside a maze. Theseus has grown up amidst this tangle of pain. When his own beloved, Zosemine, is taken to be fed to the Minotaur, Theseus finds himself at the heart of a web of conflicting motives, with the sense that even those closest to him cannot be trusted. Questions abound. Why is his father so ashamed? What is King Minos hiding? Is the Minotaur even real? And if not, what truly lies at the heart of the labyrinth? Little does Theseus know that all the various plots, motives, and secrets weave around one terrible secret. Theseus must navigate the labyrinth and see past the masks to slay the Minotaur.
