It’s hop time! Welcome to the Safari Heat Book Tours Naughty & Nice Blog Hop, 12/11 – 12/16!
Over twenty of us authors and bloggers have joined together to provide some great posts and an awesome grand prize — a Kindle Fire HDX 7″ loaded with E-Books, including my urban fantasy romance HAVEN and Haven’s short story prequel VAMPIRE CODE.
But wait, there’s more! Daily prizes from Safari Heat plus a giveaway at each stop! For more info on how the hop works (including prize eligibility) and for a list of participating authors and their links, visit the Safari Heat Blog –>
‘Tis the season to make yummy desserts!
The Best Ever Holiday Caramel Candy, aka Grandma Eddie’s Caramels
1 can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 cups white sugar
2 cups white Karo Syrup
1 stick of butter (1/4 lb.)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix together the first three ingredients (milk, sugar, syrup) in a large bowl.
Melt the butter in a large heavy kettle, pour in the mixture and bring to a boil.
Stir continuously while mixture boils until it reaches the temperature of 245 degrees Fahrenheit on a candy thermometer (can take up to 25 minutes).
Note: If mixture overcooks, candy gets too hard.
Once the 245 degree temperature is reached, remove kettle from stove.
Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, then pour mixture onto a large buttered cookie sheet or flat pan.
Allow to cool.
When cool, cut candy into squares and wrap in plastic wrap or waxed paper.
(And try not to eat them all before you do! ☺ – Makes a delicious holiday gift).
And lastly, dear readers, I present you with a steamy snippet from my urban fantasy romance, Haven (hot vampire alert!):
Alexander crushed his lips to mine. Need roared through me leaving me breathless with edgy hunger. My hands burrowed into his thick, silky hair, holding his head as if he might try to escape. He growled his approval against my lips, his kiss growing more insistent. His tongue explored my mouth. He tasted metallic, like the blood he’d consumed. Again, I found I liked the taste. My tongue danced with his and delved into his mouth, searching for more penny metal flavor. He groaned and tightened his embrace.
