Interview: Meet Author Audra Middleton
Hello Dear Readers,
I’m delighted to welcome author Audra Middleton to my blog today for a chat. She shares fun facts about herself and also info on her latest book release and giveaway. Enjoy!
Hi Audra! Tell my readers a little bit about yourself. Something not in your bio, perhaps?
My youngest recently asked me what I’m an expert at. It stumped me for a minute because being capable of something and being an expert at it are two different things — but I came up with: bacon, worrying, sleeping in, and daydreaming. Writing down my daydreams is what got me into this whole author gig. The other things on my list are admittedly less productive.
What genres do you write in?
I have eclectic taste in fiction. I write in whatever genre inspires me at any given time. I have published a fantasy series, a humorous paranormal thriller, and a romantic comedy. I also have ideas for a horror/suspense novel and a historical fiction series.
And, what do you love about writing in your genres?
Fantasy & paranormal allow me to think outside of the box, throw in some unique twists that you wouldn’t find in a typical contemporary fiction novel. Also, elements of magic and paranormal come in quite handy for getting characters out of impossible situations. Character needs to be miles away in short order? Someone nearby happens to know an instant transport spell…
What’s on your bookshelf and/or in your To Be Read pile?
I am currently reading The Travelers, a scifi novel by Keith Wayne McCoy and Book Two of George RR Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series. Like my laundry pile, my two-be-read pile is endless.
What’s on your bookshelf and/or in your To Be Read pile?
Truman Capote, because he knew how to party and I admire his work a great deal. I’d also choose Stephen King. In addition to providing some great writing advice, he might tell a creepy story, and I can never get enough of those.
Either/Or…
Coffee or tea? Coffee, with lots of flavored creamer.
Sweet or salty? Both!
Cats or dogs?
Dogs have less tendency to use their claws against me.
Mountains or beach?
Both are lovely exhibits of nature, but I’d choose the beach. As long as you stay out of the water, beach animals are less likely to eat you than mountain animals.
Favorite food:
I’ve never met a piece of bacon I didn’t like.
Favorite color:
Red – strawberries, roses, cherries, lips – so many of my favorite things are red!
Favorite music:
90s alternative – Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam to name a few.
Favorite supernatural creature?
Dragons are sexy.
Favorite TV show?
Game of Thrones – dragons, zombies, swords, treachery, intrigue, none of the amazing characters are safe. What’s not to love?
Chocolate, milk or dark?
If it’s not covered in bacon, smother it in milk chocolate and I’ll be happy.
Tell us about your new release!
I recently released a romantic comedy called Middle Eight:
He’s sex, drugs, and rock and roll. She’s spray bleach, spreadsheets, and check lists. Will their relationship hit the charts, or break hearts?
When the normal life Ray has always dreamed of unravels, she finds herself falling for a drummer, coming to terms with her unconventional childhood, and inevitably discovering that normal was never really in her best interest.
