As promised earlier this month, here’s a longer excerpt from my new cyborg sci-fi romance, CLAIMING KADEN. It’s the first story of several in my new series, CYBORG GUARDIANS OF THE AURORA.

Calie, an alien abductee and former slave, is alone on a space station fighting for her life when a certain cyborg bursts onto the scene…

The station’s vid screen flared to life in front of the action, blocking her view. A handsome stranger, with the brightest golden eyes she’d ever seen, glared at her.


“Stop shooting,” the guy growled.


His face disappeared.


“What the hell was that?” She ignored whoever the hell he was and kept firing. She clipped the green ship as one of her strikes made its way to the enemy behind it.


The face reappeared. Dark brows furrowed over his blazing whiskey eyes. “Desist, woman!”


“You desist this, you jerk!” She shot at the enemy ships. Continued to miss. “Ugh!”


She didn’t care how cute he was, with his pale, silvery blue skin and spiky dark hair, and glowing eyes that looked like they could melt a girl’s panties. No one told her what to do, no one would force her into servitude.


Never again.


 In the blink of an eye, the green vessel took out two enemy ships then planted itself in front of Calie’s station, level with the command center.
 Angry Guy’s face filled her screen, once again blotting out the action.

“I’m trying to help you. Stop firing!”


Oh… Cranky guy is a good guy. Calie lifted her hands off the controls and watched as he took out every last one of the enemy destroyers then turned his attention to the warship, where her bomb bots had finally succeeded in cracking its shield.


Calie plastered her palms on the controls. “Let’s help him kick that warship’s ass.”


“Don’t you dare,” their unknown ally barked, audio only.


“The unknown male is attempting to take control of all of our station systems, Calie,” her AI pal Athena announced.


“Cut it out, whoever you are,” Calie warned him. She aimed one of the station laser cannons at his ship.


“Who I am, is the guy who’s going to disable and commandeer the warship, and eliminate everyone on it while you sit on your pretty ass and stay out of my way.”


He thinks I’m pretty? She shook off the frisson skating down her spine. “Screw you. I’m blowing up that warship.”
